Repair - Renovation or Replacement
The mains replacement system makes pipe replacement quick and easy. The bursting equipment consists of a bursting rig with hydraulic cylinders, a hydraulic power pack 1.2 metre bursting rods and various splitting and cutting blades with expanders to suit.
Operating the bursting equipment is simple and requires only 2 operators at the most. Pipe replacement productivity is particularly high and should exceed 200 metres in just one day, providing the correct preparations are carried out ahead of the job commencing. The static bursting process can be used for on-line replacement of ductile iron- plastic- concrete- clayware for sewerage- water and gas pipes.
The bursting rig is lowered into the start trench using a mechanical digger into a pit measuring 3 metres in length by 1 metre wide onto a levelled out base aligned and levelled against the old main. Tthe process begins by inserting a lead pear drop head then screwing further sections of bursting rods until they are retrieved at the reception trench. (The hydraulic cylinders push these rods using a remote controller).
The start and exit excavations are normally set 100 metres apart upon arrival at the reception trench the lead pear drop head is removed and replaced with a cutting blade and suitable expander. The new PE main is also attached and the process is then reversed the bursting rods are hydraulically withdrawn the cutting blade and expander configuration together with the new pipe are pulled into the line of the old existing pipe simultaneously bursting the old main and displacing the broken fragments.
Save Money
•Problems are completely solved because the line is totally replaced not just repaired
•The cost of installing HDPE pipe with the pipe bursting method is much less than total replacement by conventional trenching methods
Higher Pipe Capacity
•Install high-quality pipe that is the same diameter or larger than the original pipeline for increased flow capacity
Reducing Inconvenience
•Drastically reduces inconvenience to the public and traffic along with disturbance to the environment caused by traditional methods
•Can be performed in tight access areas where open cut methods present a challenge or are not suitable
